I started my career as a Medical Assistant in Connecticut                                                                            working in Endocrinology, Internal Medicine, and Family Practice.

In 2007, I happened to come to Hawaii for a friend's wedding and fell in love with the Big Island. With lots of research and saving, I  transitioned from Connecticut to Seattle, WA where I gained further experience in Dermatology and Pediatric Care. From Seattle, I took a leap of faith and flew out to Hawaii where I found a job working in Gynecology and also became certified as a laser technician. When my husband was transferred to Waimea for his job, we moved to Waikoloa where we bought our first home. I found a good job working at a community health center that specialized in Family Practice, Pediatrics, GYN, Diabetes Education and Pain Management.  While working there, I became a Chronic Disease Self-Management educator, Co-coordinator of Emergency Preparedness for West Hawaii, and Coordinator of the Breast Cervical Cancer Control Program for WHCHC. I am very grateful for all the specialties I have worked in. It has given me the opportunity to broaden my knowledge and first hand experiences as a medical assistant.

My name is Kristel.  I was raised on the island of Oahu most of my life until meeting my husband where I began a new chapter on the Big Island.

For the past nine years, I worked as a bank teller and moved up as a consumer banking representative where I then got licensed as a notary for the State of Hawaii. It was here in Kamuela where I first had the pleasure to meet Dr. Higgins. I got to know more about her a few months ago when she came to me asking to help her better understand about how to set up her private practice. During that time she shared with me her passion for caring for women and wanting to give back to her community.  After learning that I was looking for a change and a new adventure, she offered me the opportunity to expand my administrative and interpersonal skills by coming to work with her and her staff.

This opportunity I couldn't pass up. I love to help others and meeting new people therefore providing great customer service is a plus for me.

I am also a full time mother of two beautiful children that I adore so much. I am pretty active with my kids extra curricular activities and love baking delicious desserts as I do love food.

I've been working as a Medical Assistant since 2004 and have loved

the experience of helping care for patients both young and old.

During my most recent employment, I worked in a clinic setting for

a group of primary health care providers, and it was there that I had

the pleasure of working with Dr. Higgins, the clinic's only Ob/Gyn

specialist.  When I found out that Dr. Higgins was interested in opening her own facility specializing in women's health and wanted to offer me a position, I jumped at the chance!
